Killing Cancer Charity Show, Roger Daltrey, Meher Baba and more

Hi everyone,

This year started with the Killing Cancer Charity Show at the Hammersmith Apollo on 14th January 2011 Bill Curbishley and Harvey Goldsmith asked me to be MD for the night. Some big names freely offered their time and talent; including Jeff Beck, Debbie Harry, Brian Adams, Richard Ashcroft, Roger Daltrey and The Who and plus al host of supporting musicians. See review from the Daily Telegraph here.

This turned out to be a wonderful evening; it was a priviledge to be involved, and we raised a lot of money for a worthy cause.

The Killing Cancer Show not only raised a massive amount of money but also did a fine job in raising awareness of this groundbreaking and non invasive treatment for Cancer. PDT (Photodynamic Therapy); uses laser or other light sources, combined with a light-sensitive drug (sometimes called a hotosensitising agent) to destroy cancer cells. See more on their website here.

Now we're already racing towards Midsummer and the last few months seem to have dashed by. The two new albums are ready to go; but I've been concentrating on a charity album, which hopes to raise much needed funds for the Meher Baba Centre in Hammersmith. 'Meher Baba' is an album of 14 devotional songs. Most of the songs are from previous albums and with a couple of new recordings of old songs. Two instrumental pieces are from the Soundtrack of the 'Baba in Italy' film and there are two brand new tracks; which will also appear on the next album. 'Meher Baba' is available from the Meher Baba Centre in Hammersmith and is on sale via the Meher Baba Association Website, or here in our Online Shop. 100% of every CD sold will go to the centre.

At the end of this month I'll be singing with Roger Daltrey recording a couple of songs for an 'Old Grey Whistle Test' programme, due to be aired on radio in the autumn.

By the way, I received this video below posted by Bomber W Hurley-Smith on Facebook. Roger Daltrey singing 'Without your Love' at  Night Of The Proms in Belgium in 2005. I think it's worth sharing. Thanks to Roger for singing the song and to Bomber for highlighting this excellent video.

Finally, there's another album waiting to get pressed and printed. So keep checking in and stay in touch.

With best wishes,

Billy
